Our Super-Hero OJ, Eddie Prescott, Plans another Daring Feat of a Tandem Sky Dive!

At the age of nearly 80 our adventure- seeking OJ is raising money for charity again, having done a wing-walk and abseiling in recent years, he is now sky-diving with his grand-daughter.

THEIR HEADS IN THE CLOUDS

As a result of enthusiastic support from Tonbridge Rotary Club President Peter & President Elect Barry, followed rapidly by the overall Club membership, Rotarian Eddie Prescott, along with his granddaughter Sophie, readily agreed to turn their planned Skydive at Headcorn Aerodrome into a sponsored event.

The two Presidential Charities which were subsequently nominated for the “jump”, are the Kent Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance, and Macmillan Nurses.

The Tandem Skydives, which are planned for July 1st, 2021, will be the first time that either of the pair have attempted this particular challenge, although Eddie has previously done a Rotary supported, sponsored Wing Walk for the Air Ambulance.

So what does a Tandem Skydive entail?

Well, the preliminary training lasts 30 to 40 minutes after which take-off is planned to take place within a four hour period.

Sophie and Eddie will then fly in the same plane, which accommodates a maximum of three tandem pairs, together with hired photographers.

The jump itself takes place at 12,000 feet, and entails a 30/40 second free-fall, before the parachute is activated.

At this point there will then be plenty of time to enjoy the gentle, quiet descent and also the wide vista of the lovely Kent countryside.

Donations to the Just Giving site will go into Tonbridge Rotary Club’s Trust Account, where the final total of funds will be split 50-50 between the two nominated charities.

We look forward to your support on behalf of these two excellent & important charities:
